Prop Firm Challenge Calculator
Know in real time whether your challenge target is achievable. Avoid the trap of forcing trades when the math says the target is already out of reach.
If required daily gain exceeds your max daily loss limit, the target cannot be reached without breaking the rules.
How prop firm challenges work
Funded account challenges (FTMO, MyFundedFx, The5%ers, Topstep) require traders to hit a profit target (typically 8–10%) within a time limit (usually 30 days) while staying within daily and maximum drawdown limits. Passing the challenge earns access to a funded account with profit splits of 70–90%.
The hidden trap: chasing the target
The most common cause of challenge failure is not reaching the target — it is breaching the daily loss limit while trying to catch up. When traders fall behind schedule, they increase position sizes, revenge trade, and eventually breach the daily limit. This is mathematically predictable.
When is a target impossible?
If the required daily gain to hit the target exceeds the max daily loss limit, the challenge cannot be completed within the rules. For example: 5% remaining in 2 days = 2.5%/day required. If daily limit is 5%, it is technically possible but requires hitting near-maximum gain every single day — extraordinarily risky.
Standard prop firm rules
- FTMO: 10% target / 5% daily max loss / 10% total max loss / 30 days
- MyFundedFx: 8% target / 5% daily max loss / 8% total max loss
- The5%ers: Various programs, typically 6% target / 4% daily
